Inspired by the beauty and usefulness at wood, I started playing with sticks. This is my process at realizing their potential. I create heirloom crochet hooks and knitting needles: rustic, refined or embellished with hand-painted art.
Inspired by the beauty and usefulness of wood, i started playing with sticks. this is my process of realizing their potential.
I create heirloom crochet hooks and knitting needles: rustic, refined or embellished with hand-painted art. Each one is unique, and all are hand-carved from the trees that grace our landscape. Choose from live oak, aromatic camphor, cypress, pine and sometimes treats like avocado, basil, or found mystery wood. All cuts are made seasonally during trimming and never harm the tree. From my heart to your hands, our craft.
From fallen branches to carefully chosen sticks, each hook carries the living story of the tree within its fibers making it a natural companion for wool and fiber art.
Our hooks are handmade from locally sourced wood, shaped by nature and finished by hand. Some are beautifully rustic, others become a canvas for hand-painted artwork, but no two are ever the same.
Different trees are like personalities, they all have their unique qualities. I thought I would share some of them with you here, in the hopes of helping you decide which wood fits your needs best. But also, I love trees and I’m happy to introduce you to some of these lovely creatures that are apart of my craft and landscape. All of these trees are cut seasonally during trimming, and sometimes we get exotic cuts from rosemary, avocado, Persian lilac, and the like.
